What’s new at Soquel El??

Hello Soquel Families

I can’t believe the 16/17 school year is coming to an end.  It has been such a great year and parts of me feel like it just started.   I wanted to start my final newsletter with so many thank you’s.  The staff and I want to thank the over 200 parent volunteers that we have had the pleasure to work with this past year.  Thank you to those that were able to make the lunch-in and for those of you that couldn’t, please know how thankful the teachers and I are of your support and time.  This school would not be able to do what we do for kids without you.

I would also like to thank those that served on the Home and School Club board this past year; Adrienne Stateler, Loryn Vyvyan, Lindsay Storrer, and Rachel Cash.  They all put in countless hours and supported raising thousands of dollars this past year.  The staff and I thank you from the bottoms of our hearts.

As many of you have seen and heard we have a new campus supervisor this year.  Sasha Talavera joined us officially in January.  Wow, what a difference she has made for the campus as a whole.  She is supporting all of our students socially and emotionally as well as behaviorally.  She is one of the kindest people I know and has been a perfect person to launch our Kindness Project this past year.  Please join me if you see her in thanking her for always looking out for our kids and supporting them daily.  We look forward to having her part of our team again next year.

Finally, I want to thank our amazing teaching staff.  I am so proud to be part of a dedicated and loving staff.  I am sure you will join me in expressing true gratitude for all the countless loving hours they put into our students.  Please help me wish them a fantastic summer of rest, relaxation, and fun.

Now that I am done with the thank you’s I wanted to give you a few details for both next year and the summer.  I hope everyone has a great summer full of family, friends, and fun.  I can’t wait to see everyone in August!
